Ashfield Parade Reserve is an area of recreational and environmental significance along the Swan River foreshore. Syrinx’s role in the project involved investigations, consultation, design, technical specifications and the implementation of bioremediation and restoration works. Before the inception of the works, the high and steep riverbanks of the Reserve had been heavily degraded by storm water drainage, surface water runoff, groundwater seepage, wave impacts, and informal public access.
Significant site and urban investigations were carried out in order to ensure that recommendations were specific to the area concerned, including foreshore assessments, hydrological and hydraulic analysis, and historical studies.
Comprehensive community liaison was conducted by Syrinx, resulting in a detailed design plan that provided background information on the site, a summary of the issues and constraints, as well as a description of the techniques recommended for addressing them.
The resulting project improves the stability of the river bank, rectifies the site’s stormwater drainage problems, restores native vegetation communities, safeguards public access, enhances landscape aesthetics and expands the informal urban infrastructure of the area.
